Hostel Private Room vs. Baixa Hotel
Frequently Asked Questions
Do private rooms in hostels have private bathrooms?+
Some do, some don't — it depends on the room. At Lisbon Lounge, our Deluxe Double, Deluxe Quad, and both Apartment Suites all have private en-suite bathrooms. Our Standard Twin rooms use clean, well-maintained shared bathrooms just steps from your door.
Is breakfast included in hostel private rooms?+
At Lisbon Lounge, yes — free breakfast is included with every room, whether you're in a dorm bed or an apartment suite. Most Lisbon hotels charge €10–15 extra for breakfast. It's one of the biggest cost advantages of staying in a hostel.
How much cheaper is a hostel private room vs a hotel in Lisbon?+
A private room at Lisbon Lounge starts from €55/night with breakfast included. A comparable 3-star hotel in Baixa-Chiado typically costs €120–180/night, and breakfast is extra. That's roughly 50–70% savings, and you get the social atmosphere on top.
Can couples stay in a hostel private room?+
Absolutely — our Deluxe Double room is designed for couples, with a queen-size bed, private bathroom, balcony, and a workspace. Many couples prefer hostels over hotels because you get a private space to retreat to while also having the option to meet other travellers at the bar, on our walking tours, or at our famous Family Dinner.
What's the difference between a hostel suite and a hotel room?+
Our Apartment Suites are full self-contained apartments with a private kitchen, living area, washer/dryer, and one or two bedrooms — more space than most hotel rooms. The difference is you also get access to all hostel perks: free breakfast, daily experiences, a social bar, and a community of fellow travellers. Hotels can't offer that.
How far is Lisbon Lounge from the airport?+
About 20 minutes by metro (Red Line to Alameda, then Green Line to Baixa-Chiado — €1.90) or 15 minutes by Bolt/Uber (€8–12). We're in the heart of Baixa-Chiado, Lisbon's historic centre, steps from Praça do Comércio and the Tagus River.
What social experiences are included when staying in a private room?+
Every guest gets the same access regardless of room type: free walking tours (daily at 10:30am), our Sala cocktail bar (6pm–11pm), the legendary pub crawl (nightly at 10pm), and Family Dinner on select evenings. Private room guests enjoy all the social perks with the privacy of their own space.
Can I book a private room for a family or group?+
Yes — our Deluxe Quad sleeps 4 (perfect for families with kids), and our Apartment Suites sleep up to 6 with full kitchens. For larger groups of 6–30+, check our Groups page for custom quotes and exclusive floor bookings.
